A South African woman, Beatrice Nyako believed to be in her 30’s, is currently in police grips for poisoning her own two-year-old son to pave way for her to marry her boyfriend.
According to South Africa Latest News, the accused who stays in KwaMashu, in Durban was yesterday arrested by the police along with her mother (the deceased’s grandmother).
Seaking with the press, neighbours revealed that Beatrice who has been promised marriage by her boyfriend believed the son was a threat to her marriage, hence the decision to kill him.
The accused woman is said to have fed her child boiled egg poisoned with weedicide, and later locked him up in the room and left.
When she realized that her son was dead after returning to the house, it seemed the gravity of her act dawned on her making her remorseful because she attempted committing suicide.
However, she was rescued by some neighbours who rushed her to a hospital in the area for treatment and later reported the case to the police who came to arrest her.
Police have started investigations into the matter.
