A mother who is in shock has told the story of tragic love that claimed the life of her daughter and her boyfriend. The woman revealed how her daughter died in her hands after she was shot dead by the boyfriend who turned the gun and killed himself too.
Speaking to DailySun, the mother revealed that her daughter identified as Nelisiwe Cele (25) died after she was shot by her boyfriend Sakhile Mpanza (30). After killing her, he turned the gun on himself and died on the spot.
The incident happened at KK hostel in Clermont, west of Durban in South Africa, on Sunday.
Nelisiwe’s mum, Nomusa Cele (57), while narrating the incident said she was in their rented room with her daughter when Sakhile arrived and asked to speak to Nelisiwe.
“Sakhile then asked Nelisiwe why she was dumping him.
“Before my daughter could respond he pulled out a gun, and said she would die for dumping him.”
She said she tried to talk to Sakhile, but he pushed her to the ground and shot Nelisiwe once. He then shot himself.
“I screamed for help and neighbours came. I tried to bring Nelisiwe around, but it was too late. It was so painful. I will never forget the trauma.”
She said she had no idea that Nelisiwe had dumped Sakhile.
“My daughter had just started working and was saving money to further her studies. But Sakhile was selfish and decided to end her life.”
Nomusa said the two had been together for three years and didn’t have chindren.
“Nelisiwe will be buried in Eshowe.”
Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed that a case of murder and an inquest docket was opened at KwaDabeka Police Station.
