The International Olympic Committe (IOC), have stated that 450,000 condoms (350,000 male condom & 100,000 female condom) along with 175,000 personal packets of lube, will be distributed during the the Rio De Janeiro Olympics which will kick-start soon (100 days to the Opening Ceremony). While the number of condoms to be distributed this year is higher than that of the previous years, it is mainly to encourage the over 10,500 athletes and staff to practice safe s*x and to avoid the risk of s*xually transmitted diseases (STD), prevention of unwanted pregnancies, as these are part of the effectiveness of condoms.
