A nursing mother and her son were injured in an accident caused by attempt by a police officer to extort N100 from a commercial motorcyclist, Okadaman, in Ondo town, Ondo State.
Eyewitness account said trouble started when a team of anti-crime police officers attached to one of the police stations in the town mounted an illegal road block in one of the major roads.
According to Vanguard, it was learned that one of the officers, in an attempt to stop the Okada rider, pulled down the mother and baby, while the motorcycle was in motion.
The impact was so serious. Mother and child were rushed to the hospital.
Commercial motorcycle operators in the area staged a protest to show their displeasure over alleged incessant extortion by policemen in the town.
